Our 2014 production – Tosca – builds on the acclaim, broad support, and gratifying reviews from our first two seasons.
Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini. Originally set in Rome, 1800, this production has been updated to World War II (1943). It contains depictions of torture, murder and suicide, as well as some of Puccini’s best-known lyrical arias, and has inspired memorable performances from many of opera’s leading singers.
A variety of Twin Cities news media have reviewed, praised, and promoted our first two seasons, including Star Tribune reviewer William Randall Beard wrote, “Mill City Summer Opera is emerging as a consistently interesting professional company. This is a great way to spend a summer evening.”
